Ethernet Controller Driver

At my wits end!!!

Live in France - have an old Time Computer - No Model number but tons of serial numbers All Time Computer Support lines no longer functioning.

Recently changed Service provider from Orange to SFR who can't supply a modem with a USB connection facility (Too old hat apparently) The Ethernet Controller on the computer doesn't function - Code 28 or somesuch and can't download direct because I can't Connect to the internet. Have scoured the web in search of a download or solution Can anyone out there help.

Desperate of France

RE: Ethernet Controller Driver

I can ID it from either the model number or the product code
model number is something like 123XYZ4567GB2 (if yours is a french model it may end in F or F2 or similar
product code will be something like 123-666-4567

Give me either and I can probably tell you whats in it - and ID the driver
What version of windows is it running?

RE: Ethernet Controller Driver

just bumping this back up as it may have got buried by other posts

Terence - we can help, but only if you can provide the info I've asked for. You say the machine carries a serial number - well the model number and / or product code should be on the same label

RE: Ethernet Controller Driver

What about an "RJ45 USB adapter" or "network USB adapter"?

If you have Windows XP or more modern operating system (including linux or BSD), the USB adapter will show up as just another network card, they are quite straight forward to use.

RE: Ethernet Controller Driver

If your computer is ancient (windows 98 or 2000): I do have a load of classic PCI network cards, so if you are able to fit it, I can sell you one through my eBAY shop, as I do ship into Europe :-)

RE: Ethernet Controller Driver

that "code 28" just means the driver isn't installed. If Terence can ID the machine (and operating system) then I can identify the required driver, its as simple as that
