computer won't start
imedia x2415 will come on for about 3 secs then switches itself off,start button goes red instead of blue,and goes straight out.nothing on the screen

maybe a failed power supply probably a blown motherboard

same as we do when repairing machines Trial and error Unseat / reseat everything, then fit a new PSU, if that doesn't work fit a new motherboard
Probably a good idea to get someone to do it for you as the motherboard is a socket 775 model - of which few are in production now, and those that are, mainly use DDR3 memory (yours is DDR2) and so would also need replacement. Being an Acer-built machine it may also have non-standard mounting blocks for the front panel connectors - which either require jumper leads or a a fine hand with a scalpel to cut the blocks up. Also you'll run into both driver and windows activation problems when you change the board and boot the machine up
Raise a job request at http://www.pciq.com That way, while you'll have to pay labour costs, you wont have to buy unrequired replacement stuff just to check things out
