WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

Hi,
I have a toshiba laptop showing a warning message:
"warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service."
Could any one help me with this matter?

RE: WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

clogged with dust or failed fan
If its within warranty speak to Toshiba
Otherwise ask for paid help. Make sure you let whoever comes knows in advance that its a laptop - not all engineers are able / want to strip down a laptop. Spares can be a problem - what is the model? Should be on the back of the machine somewhere.

RE: WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

You could try a Ctrl Alt Del to open Task Manager then look at what applications and processes are running. If you can identify the one responsible for the warning message you may be able to prevent it starting if it is an application, or disable it if it is a service. However, I would not discount the possibility it is telling you something you need to know.

"ITS SLOWS DOWN WATCHING CLIPS (IN SLOW-MOTION AND FRAGMENT BY FRAGMENT)" Yeah? Thats the machine overheating
Get it looked at before it either burns out or you have a fire. Tech data available online indicates it should have a 2.GHz Celeron D in it, which get very very hot. Don't take the risk - get someone to change the cooling fan

RE: WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

he may have turned the message off but the underlying problem is still there. Its a bit like pulling the fuse out of the dashboard warning light telling you the brakes have failed...
if you carry on running it while it overheats you stand a serious risk of fire or injury
as to what "ADDS_DISABLE" is, sorry no ideas
unless its a browser popup blocker

Back to the main problem though: its overheating and will either fail, burn out/melt or catch fire

RE: WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

Hi there, I have a system warning message on my Toshiba Satellite L655 saying a problem with the cooling system has been detected and to turn off the computer immediately and return for service. The message appeared two days ago after my Microsoft Word failed to start. I have seen posts saying to return the computer especially if it is still under warranty, well it just ended. I was advised to blow my fan out with compressed air. This has not worked so far. Is there anything else that I can do to restore my cooling system with out or before sending it in to be repaired?

RE: WARNING MESSAGE: PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM

it needs to be taken apart, cleaned out, the fan inspected and probably replaced and the heat pipes reseated against the CPU and GPU with new thermal transfer material

Can you do that?
