Laptop screen colour false pink green!
Hi, My husband's laptop Toshiba is about 3 years old, the connection appears to be loose as the colours have gone crazy. Sometimes it is a lurid green or pink, if you push the screen down at a 90 degree angle it sometimes looks like it should. Is this a connection or some other problem, and is it easy to fix?

RE: Laptop screen colour false pink green!
Well I've seen a loose video connector on a desktop computer give rise to some odd colours on the display so you may well be right. In which case it shouldn't be too hard to disassemble and fix, an hour's labour maybe?

RE: Laptop screen colour false pink green!
Yes, a failing back-light, I think. I've seen that make everything look very red but it seems less likely it would respond to pressure.

RE: Laptop screen colour false pink green!
I didn't mean the backlight - it could be the contacts at the edge of the screen breaking away from the screen substrate. Nothing you can do about that except a new screen. Flexing the screen can remake the contacts temporarily but its not a fix

RE: Laptop screen colour false pink green!
Thanks for replies, he needs it to be ok for work, I'll let him know your replies, if it needs a new screen it may be better to get a new laptop. We are in Norwich. How much would it be for a new screen with labour?

RE: Laptop screen colour false pink green!
It depends exactly which model, but a laptop screen is typically £80-100, plus about one hours labour to fit it and test. It depends on who is local to you and what they charge, but probably £110-150 in total. Cheaper than a new machine if everything else is OK.
