RE: windows installer and apptray

It sound like the windows install has not completed properly and keeps trying to complete every time your computer restarts. You should be able to use some thing like sysinterals autoruns to take this out of your computers startup.

RE: windows installer and apptray

Use the original CD that came with your printer and when the Windows installer asks for the location of whatever file it is trying to install point it towards your CD drive.

Daniel
"sysinterals autoruns" is not going to be within the vocabulary of most of the customers posting here.

RE: windows installer and apptray

This is a VERY common problem with HP installations, particularly if you do something radical like a Repair Reinstall of Windows. The easiest fix would be to disconnect the printer, completely uninstall the printer and the associated software. Then re-install the software and then reconnect the printer.

RE: windows installer and apptray

if that fails you need to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Install it, run it, select the program that gives the problem and let the utility remove it. The files are not removed - it simply removes and registry reference to it being installed.
Then delete the relevant installation folders and reinstall
