If its in warranty take it back.

RE: factory settings

Easy enough .... depending! What make and model of machine and what operating system ?

RE: Time RAM upgrade

Assuming the motherboard is in use ... ie running ... log onto the Crucual memory web site and run their scanner it will give all the information you might need.

RE: windows xp problem

The menu which takes you into safe mode also contains the option .. "Last known configuration which worked......." Try that. If that doesn't work get into safe mode and try a system restore. Start - All Programmes -- accessories --- system tools --- system restore. If all that fails your only option without a disc is a reinstall partition which your machine may or may not have. It's doubtful. Let us know the make and model of your PC.

RE: erratic mouse

Thank you for the detailed information !! Which model Easynote? What operating system? Describe where and when the laptop is slow. How long has it been slow Describe what the mouse is doing or not doing. Do you have a current anti virus programme if so which one? What have already done to cure either fault? The faults you nearly describe could be due to a wide range of problems and difficult to diagnose on line without detailed information.

RE: My advent Verona SU (red) will not charge

The manufacturer of the Verona, as far as I am aware, is a company called EliteSystems. ECS do not supply disassembly manuals outside of their business customers so taking one apart is a bit of guesswork. Generally a technician will have a feel for the job having seen and "done" plenty in the past. Repairing a charging jack looks straight forward but often isn't. Please understand taking a laptop to pieces, which you will have to do, and putting in back into working order requires both skill and knowledge. You might like to consider raising an order for one of our team to do it rather than winging it and running the risk of making things worse!

RE: chip level repair and fix training course

Interesting but sadly India is a step too far and sorry to say this but this forum isn't an advertising site.

RE: access problems

Thank you try the followiung and then try a system restore. Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System. In the left pane, click System Protection. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. To turn on System Protection for a hard disk, select the check box next to the disk, and then click OK. Let us know how it goes.

RE: access problems

Interesting. Please confirm the version of Windows you are using and what you actually downloaded. Also please confirm exactly where the download was from.

12 Oct @ 13:55

RE: Unable to find defragmentation method

Thank you for your interesting question !! It would be useful to know exactly what your trying to do and why together with the operating system your using. Without some details we are the blind leading the blind in the dark with blindfolds on.

RE: dell all in one 2310 monitor problem

Right lets assume Dell are correct and lets face it they ought to be. An engineer ought to have no problems getting your documents and pictures off, then reinstall Windows and if necessary download and install one of the free, and very decent, anti virus programmes. Updates can be simply downloaded. If Dell are correct this is something our members come across daily I suggest you raise a request for someone to come along and deal with it. If Dell are not correct and the fault is not Windows but hardware based then at least you will know and the engineer may be able to help.

RE: dell all in one 2310 monitor problem

Have a look at http://www.ehow.com/how_4812128_sleep-mode-problems-dell-computer.html I had one of these in with a similar fault, customer suspected a virus, a few weeks ago happily it was under warranty and Dell collected it and I assumed fixed it since I have heard nothing since. Unhappily I am none the wiser.

RE: dell all in one 2310 monitor problem

This is a known fault on this machine and too my knowledge the precise issue has never been sorted out never mind a fix. I wonder can you boot in Safe Mode (Tapping the F8 key on start up) and if so doeas the machine run properly there. Try it and let us know please.

RE: fujitsu laptop

Right well it was very brave to take a laptop to pieces or maybe ill advised. Like most technicians I get a lot of phone calls asking for help and if this one came along I would say bring it in. You need professional help from someone skilled in the innards of laptops.

RE: Re- Drivers

There is sometimes an issue on XP machines with audion and it revolves round the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture which in my experience causes an issue after the download of service pack 3. Apparently Microsoft forgot in include UAA support in SP3 driver database. Does your Device Manager show a yellow exclamation mark against audio ?

4 Sep @ 09:48

RE: Re- Drivers

OK. First things first. Start - control panel - hardware - Device Manager. I assume your audio hardware has a yellow question mark and you need a driver. If it's a yellow Exclamation mark that's different. If its a yellow question mark download and try; http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P4MAM2-V.html#/?div=Driver&os=XP%2032

RE: Re- Drivers

Drivers are either very simple or a potential nightmare. If as you say speed is of the essence download the driver from the motherboard site and run it at your own risk. Not being signed does not mean there is a problem with it it more likely means the motherboard manufacturer is unwilling to pay Microsoft. If it works good. If not need to know details of the motherboard and your operating system.

RE: Advent boot up

It's not looking great. When a computer won't run at all it could be a number of things too many to list here and you really need some face to face help. If I was to guess and bearing in mind I have not seen the machine but also bearing in mind the make and symptom I would guess a main board problem which would mean a replacement if you can find one and a quite tricky job of changing it. Unless someone knows differently that is my best guess. I have to repeat you need someone competent to have a look at it.

28 Aug @ 16:46

RE: Advent boot up

If you have "acquired" it brand new or from a supplier take it straight back. If you have "acquired" it without a warranty then you need professional help. Do you get any noise, fans, any lights or any obvious activity? Bluntly if you get nothing at all you need help but be aware All in One machines ... how can I put this? .....hm All in One machines can be a real problem.

RE: Advent T9408 - Admin Password forgotten

It isn't very difficult to access an account but not the sort of thing I would give advise on unless face to face with a customer who can convince me the computer is rightfully theirs. This is absolutely no reflection on you personally.

RE: Installing new Laptop hd

Its a nice idea but no unless you have an identical machine and then install the operating system from scratch. The other way is to use a programme like Norton Ghost to burn an image of your existing operating system onto a disc(s) and then having installed your new hard drive use the disc(s) to copy the o/s etc etc onto it.

19 Jul @ 23:21

RE: Installing new Laptop hd

The laptop should "see" the external keyboard and allow it to be used. Plug it in and see is the easiest way. Good luck.

19 Jul @ 22:39

RE: Installing new Laptop hd

Installing the hard drive is not an issue. The issue is installing an operating system on the hard drive and for this you will need to enter some information which will require a keyboard. I assume you have an XP installation disc? You could use an external keyboard. The other alternative is retain the current hard drive and use an external hard drive to add memory.

19 Jul @ 22:16

RE: Time Drivers

I use a driver service which, for a fee, will scan the computer/laptop concerned and almost always finds a suitable driver. try Driveragent
