Customer's Description:

The Imac computer is shutting down spontaneously, usually within 20 minutes (if using email) or almost instantly if using an application requiring higher processing (ie. DVD). The screen completely blanks (no spinning colour wheel) and computer has to be restarted. Computer has made whirring noise for some time and this has become louder - apple people think it is a fan error. Please could you tell us how much it would cost for someone to look at the computer (we live in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, but could bring the computer to Aberdeen if that is easier), and also how much it would cost to replace the fan if that is the problem.
