Customer's Description: |
I own an Acer Travelmate Laptop (I think the model number is 4210WLMi, but not 100% certain). I have had it just over 2 years and use it most days in the evenings. It has just "died" -when I try and turn it on, I get a few flashing lights, a brief whirr of the internal fan and then nothing. If I take the battery out with the power lead still connected, I do not even get this. I noticed shortly before it died that the screen looked a bit dim and thought it was trying to go to screen saver mode -it did this a few times and touching the mouse pad brought it back to life. However, I looked at it after a short time away and it had died..... The question is: is it likely to be something to do with the motherboard? Or is it likely to be a power supply problem? I am guessing the former but am obviously not sure -if so, can it be repaired and if so, how much would it likely cost? If it's going to be alot then a new laptop might be a better option. I must admit, I'm a little concerned to read about the number of people on here who have had problems with Acer laptops -I fear mine may be in the same category. I'd be grateful for any advice you could lend and if you could give me an idea of price for each option, that would be useful. Also, do you charge an inspection fee if I decide not to go ahead with the repair? (if it is a goner!). Also, in the event it is dead, would you be able to recover data from the hard disk? Apologies for the over-long message but I thought I'd try and be thorough. Please let me know if I can provide any more information. Many thanks, Kristian Garner |
