Acer aspire x3200 desktop fan NOISE

Hi, this Acer mini desktop is driving me bananas with the racket it makes! Sounds like a jumbo jet.
Anyone got a ny serious solutions before I ditch the whole machine?

take it apart and clean the fan
or maybe replace the fan (or fams - some have two exhausts)

But..if thats one of the small form factor units I think it is, getting it back together often proves problematic

If it's the model I'm thinking of, the cooling system is very poor and it only takes a tiny bit of degradation to make the fan work very hard indeed. Cleaning will help but it's a very bad design.

I too was going loopy with the racket ours was making and in the end dared to open up... there was serious dust clogging up the fan which is NOT difficult to unscrew, blow out and replace.
NEVER USE VACUUM cleaner or hair drier, (can cause static damage apparently and/mess wit PC) the BEST solution is to use an air compressor, carefully blowing out all the dust and muck(hold onto fan while you do this!). I asked neighbour who works in factory and he kindly did the job - the machine is 'happy as Larry' now and decibels down to nearly zero!

I've never known a case of vacuum blowing a board through static. Its an often repeated story, but I've never yet heard or seen of anyone who has had it happen
Biggest problem with this Acer model is simply getting it apart without breaking it, and then getting it back together without pulling the cables off the front panel, and making sure the slot loading DVD drive is aligned
