Edge connector for old hard drive required.

My elderly mother (Aged 85!)has had a problem with her equally old laptop which is a Compaq NX9005. She gave the product to a neighbour to fix but he has caused more problems than anything else. I have taken a look and in forcing the hard drive back into the machine he has damaged the edge connector connecting the hard drive to the machine does anyone know where we can obtain another one.

Looks like a standard connector and if so is available on Ebay for a couple of pounds.

Thanks Cliff, I have been looking on there and other sites on the net but nobody seems to offer one which is the exact shape and style. As you know there is very little room inside a laptop so if I buy one that is vastly different in shape I suspect it will not fit.

Looks like a fairly standard part; 2.5" IDE to HDD adapter like Cliff said. Also looks from the last picture like you may be able to tease those 2 squashed foils out with a pin? Have a try, you got nothing to lose.

Thanks Robin, I tried that before I posted but they were too badly damaged to be any good, still on the lookout for one of these so far no luck, lots of similar stuff out there but not exactly the same.
