RE: speaker problem no sound

more details please
what brand/mode of PC
what operating system
what sound card
what drivers are you trying to install?

Sounds like you are trying to install drivers which are out of date, or for the wrong operating system

Can you tell us what happened to make this go wrong? Whatwas the sequence of events leading up t the problem?

RE: speaker problem no sound

If it is a laptop, sometimes they have a physical switch to disable the speakers. Check, it is usually on the side or front - a small slider.

RE: speaker problem no sound

Or indeed on some older laptops there may be a thumb-wheel volume control.

RE: speaker problem no sound

"asking for directx 7.0" - but he has DX9 installed
Sounds to me like he's trying to install Windows 9X drivers on a Win 2K/XP or later machine

Doesn't resolve the initial problem though
