RE: my internet connection keeps switching off after a few minutes
I think you need to give us more detailed information on this one. If you connect to the internet via a router then you could lose your ethernet connection to the router or the router could lose its connection to the internet and you would have to look hard to tell the difference. In either case your computer would find itself no longer connected to the internet. But in both cases the connection should be re-established if it was dropped temporarily so something odd is happening. The other thing is, people often think if their web browser won't load web pages then they haven't got an internet connection but that isn't necessarily the case.
My personal opinion is that if this is driving you crazy enough to pay some money to get it fixed, you should call someone out. It is MUCH easier to diagnose this sort of problem when you are actually on site. But if you would like to give more details I'm sure we will have a go to sort the problem out via this forum.

RE: my internet connection keeps switching off after a few minutes
attempting to double-guess is always difficult, but I'd be tempted to suggest here that the problem is not the modem/router, but an issue with the internet browser - possibly spyware, possibly a faulty plugin. However thats only guesswork and I concur with Alan - unless you can give us (a lot) more info then you're better off calling in help One point worh trying possibly: have you tried connecting another PC to the router? If so, does that connect OK?
