T-Mobile Dongle Problem

Hello there, my Auntie has a dongle to connect to the internet and it isnt working at all. She has taken it to the t mobile shop and some other people who think it is a virus. The computer works and you can access files but the internet dongle (and any replacements) wont work... I am going round this week but is there anything I need to look for as problems, or could it actually be a virus affecting the USB port?

RE: T-Mobile Dongle Problem

I know I need to look myself but I wont have internet connection whilst there so what should I have on a USB with me as in software to look at issues... Malware Bytes and AVG I am thinking as free scans etc?

RE: T-Mobile Dongle Problem

look, its very unlikely a virus is going to stop a dongle from working - the virus needs the connection to be able to replicate

The machine MAY be virused, but thats unlikely to be the cause of the connection problem. Something else is going on, and I'm not prepared to guess in advance as to just what

As to doing a virus scan, you need to be able to go online and do tests: virtually all the security scans worth anything scan "in the cloud"

So first fix the connection problem

RE: T-Mobile Dongle Problem

Which dongle is it?
Has the software successfully installed? Is it web n walk manager, t-mobile broadband manager or t-mobile internet manager?
If the software installs, what is the error message you get when you try to connect or does it say you are connected but no webpages?
Green or blue light on the dongle?
Prepay or pay monthly?
Does the SIM work in a mobile phone (needs to be a t-mobile handset)?
Is kaspersky installed on the machine?
Do the USB ports work with other USB 2.0 dependant devices (mobiles, camera, ipod)??
