sounds to me like either your security settings are set not to permit it, or javascript is broken on the machine
if you've not changed anything yourself, try using system restore to roll the machine back to before this happened

If this is a problem with Internet Explorer then you might well be able to work around it by installing an alternative web browser like Firefox or Chrome.

RE: wont let me on sites that need usernames and passwords??? pls help

This is reminding me of the symptoms of a type of virus that changes your DNS server to another corrupt one. Typical symptoms are that you can access some web sites but not others, often not antivirus web sites for example, and it doesn't matter what web browser you use. You may also find that if you do an internet search then click on one of the links you end up somewhere different to where the link was supposed to be taking you. Antivirus software can find it difficult to detect and deal with this problem because often it hides very effectively by infecting a Windows system file. It's often the atapi.sys file that gets infected, but not necessarily. The virus might well be stealing your user names and passwords when you try to enter them.

If I'm right then the cure is either to reset your computer to its factory settings or call in a good computer engineer (i.e. someone with the nous to find and remove the virus rather than just reset your computer to its factory settings).

Yes, a factory reset if very drastic action which I, as an engineer, only use as a very last resort. It's also a quick fix for computer engineers under time pressure or who don't really know what they are doing. You DO lose everything so you should first back up all your documents to an external hard drive or a memory stick or CDs/DVDs and be prepared to reload all the software that didn't come with the computer. You'll also lose all your settings, personalizations, stored passwords etc.

If you can pay for a repair then a PCIQ engineer should be able to visit and fix the computer for you. Follow the 'Get Support' link on the PCIQ pages.

Laptop computers often have a repair partition on the hard drive rather than disks, so a factory reset might still be possible if you know what procedure to follow.
