laptop connection error

We have just had a laptop returned from repair that will not allow connection to rhe internet by either cable or wireless connection
Go into control panel,system, hardware and there are approx 20?marks orunknown device pcmcia mtd-002
But when it was first returned it downloaded the latest updates for Win XP although we could not intentiionaly connect to the internet nor could we install the backup drivers

Was the repair done by a PCIQ engineer? I always say to my clients that when I make repairs there is a small possibility that something I do has unforeseen side effects so they should call me if they experience any problems afterwards. This rarely happens but if it does I would generally fix any knock-on problems free of charge.

going back to what I posted earlier, that Sound Blaster emulation problem is quite common to a lot of earlier windows xp machines
what make / model is the laptop?
