dongle not connecting directly to internet

i have just upgraded from vista to windows 7 and cannot get internet connection through my 3 connect dongle except through my control panel why is this?

you probably need to download newer, compatible software
Have you checked the "3" website?
You'll need to make sure you get the correct software version for the make / model of your dongle
