Machine should support 2G.

I bought Samsung 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz.

RE: Ram upgrade

1) when you have just one SODIMM fitted does it matter which slot you use? Have to tried both cards in both slots, both singly and one at a time?
One slot may be faulty
2) do both SODIMMS have the same model number?
3) Look for a BIOS update on the Fujitu website. if there isn't one, mail their tech support and ask. It may well be a known compatibility problem
4) Try another brand of memory

Please -when you reply, please stick to the one thread. Creating new threads each time you post is not helpful, and to be honest, for us trying to help you it makes it very difficult to see the whole story

RE: Ram upgrade

Success! I have solved this by rewriting and saving both config.nt and autoexec.nt in System32.

Which allowed me to upgrade Phoenix BIOS form 01.A to 01D. So 01. A only sees 1G.

Thanks for help. Sorry about the Threads

RE: Ram upgrade

dunno why changing those files should make any difference, but the BIOS update makes a lot of sense.
Makes you wonder why they didn't get it right first time

RE: Ram upgrade

The Files were missing from System32 for some reason and this would not allow the upgrade to run something to do with 16 bit DOS. Rewrote them in Notebook and saved in System32. Worked perfectly kept my fingers crossed.

Knowledge for the future I hope.

Thanks

Ed

RE: Ram upgrade

16-bit subsystem error?

check your machine for a rootkit

try Hitman Pro followed by Combofix and Malwarebytes Antimalware

Hitman Pro
Combofix
Malwarebytes
