don't they come in two forms: one with a normal tower and the other as a "mini-PC"
if you've got the tower version then the answer is "yes". For instance Scan have several different adaptors available. Which you used depends on whether the machine has a spare PCI or PCI-Express slot
They also have some low profile cards as well which MAY fit the mini-PC version IF theres space inside - and IF theres a spare slot. There may not be

RE: Upgrade Packard IMEDIA X2416 to USB 3

Thanks Jon,
I have the normal tower version.
Since posting my original question I have been told that it is necessary to have Express 2.0.
My PC has Express but it doesn't say Express 2.0.
Any further help/comment welcome.

RE: Upgrade Packard IMEDIA X2416 to USB 3

whoever you are talking to doesn't understand what they're talking about
PCI-Express sockets come rated as a speed multiplier. Theres a small 2x socket used for expansion cards, and a larger 16x socket used for graphics cards. If a m/b has PCI-Express it will have one 16x, and one or more 2x.
Now what you need in your machine depends on whatever spare slots you have on the motherboard
If you have a spare PCI-Express slot (usually fitted toward the middle of the board, above the other slots then you need one of these

If you don't have a spare PCI-Express slot but do have a standard PCI slot (most motherboards have two or three of these) then you need one of these

Take a good look at the metal connecting pins, look at your motherboard and see which kind of slot you have free. You may have such things as TV cards taking up one or more slots, soits important that whatever you get can fit into an empty slot
